Machinist Team Member

Machining of M-pipe for end fittings and test coupons, accessories to allow processing of pipe in production machine and test fittings etc.

Principal Accountabilities

Operates Machine shop equipment safely following best practices and risk assessments.

Maintains machinery and work areas to ensure safe operation.

Producing parts within specification from written procedure (SOP) or direct from component drawing keeping records.

Maintains a high level of understanding of relevant Standard Operating Procedures, ensures they are followed and identifies improvements.

Has good knowledge of all Risk Assessments (hazards and mitigations) relevant to Job role and identifies improvements and/or changes.

Work with Engineering and Manufacturing Development to create new processes and SOP’s/RA’s for them.

Maintains high levels of Focus, a positive attitude, time keeping, flexibility and a Quality first approach.

Active in the continuous improvement of pipe machining and associated tasks via the Production Improvement Program.

Participates in 5S methodology and ensures work areas are clean, tidy and HSE compliant and is also pro-active in using available time for such tasks when opportunities arise (i.e.  machine break down etc).

Promotes safe and conscientious working practices.

Immediately reporting any unsafe or potentially unsafe acts or conditions to your Supervisor or any member of the Management Team.

Actively reporting any errors, omissions or potential improvements identified in the Integrated QHSE Management System and the associated controls or processes.

Comply with all Client QHSE controls, processes and other QHSE related requirements on Client work sites.

Job Challenges

Creation of new processes for Magma’s complex machining needs.

Understanding current production methods and working to Improve and streamline techniques without any compromise on quality.

Constant focus on all Quality aspects of Magma Product including record keeping, cleanliness and the care of all company assets.

Maintain good working relationships and respect for all Magma employees and customers.

Responsible for ensuring all chemicals are used / handled in accordance with QHSE procedures.

Skilled in using workshop equipment including handheld/fixed cutting machinery including Band and Circular saws, grinders, sanders etc and ensure all such equipment is used in accordance with Risk Assessments and good practice.

Handling logistics of heavy equipment manoeuvres on & off site.

Promoting a professional approach to all aspects of the role.

Job Knowledge and Experience

Essential Qualifications and Experience.

Time served Engineer with machining experience in Lathes, Mills and general workshop tools.

5 Years + machining High Value, Low Volume parts.

Good PC skills to include Word, Excel.

Excellent use of English Language (written and verbal)

Other:

Knowledge of composite materials and/or machining techniques beneficial.
