Subsea Spools
Rigid jumper spools, used to connect between subsea PLETs, PLEMs, Manifolds, Trees and Riser Bases are typically complex components due to their often challenging design and installation requirements. m-pipe flexibility, corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance allows such structures to be greatly simplified and their performance and reliability greatly enhanced. The benefits of using m-pipe® include; smaller overall size for the same deflections, larger fatigue lives, smaller interface loads, reduced flow bends and pressure drops. The knock-on benefits include easier fabrication and installation.
m-pipe® spools are configured in M, Z, V and arch configurations using a combination of straight m-pipe® sections connected between rigid steel piggable flow bends or solid block elbows if pigging is not required. m-pipe® sections are structurally optimised by varying the wall thickness distribution along the pipe lengths to maximise stress utilisation whilst minimising connector interface loads.
